Hey, guys. We’re back again. So I had so much fun doing the last one that I thought we could make it a full series talking about the shows that went on to crash & burn. So let’s jump right in here, shall we?

Originally titled the guide to surviving life, I had such high hopes for this as it premiered during my senior year of college & promised to be a show that would teach you how to survive life in the real word when attempting to strike out on your own. So naturally I was excited to learn about how to survive life after college but it got pulled from its time slot after just 10 episodes & canceled shortly thereafter.

So what went wrong here? Well, one of the problems here is it was supposed to teach us how to survive stuff that we would deal with as young adults trying to make ends meet while living on our own for the first time but it just was not even remotely realistic. For one thing, there’s an episode where they end up in the woods & have to fend off a bear. When would I ever have that problem? The only bears in my state are up in the blue ridge mountains & I live nowhere near that area.

There’s also an episode where he gets kidnapped & his friends have to bail him out & an episode where his ex-girlfriend unveils a painting of his dick at an art exhibition. I’m probably more likely to win the lottery than get abducted by some nut job in a ski mask. And honestly, as far as unrealistic episodes go, that’s just the tip of the iceberg so I could go on but I think I’ve made my point.

Ultimately, I think the other major problem was the fact that the show didn’t seem to know what it wanted to be & as such, couldn’t find its audience soon enough. & I think definitely the sunday time slot didn’t help matters either as college students are usually out all weekend. It just seemed like it cared more about writing a good joke than actually trying to help people succeed in the real world & as a result, was brought out to the curb.

As far as my reception to it, it’s not that I disliked the series; I think I was just disappointed in a series that promised to help us survive in the real word & subsequently reneged. It seemed to have so much potential yet ultimately proved to be one of the more forgettable series out there. But I do think it is worth a watch at least once if you haven’t seen it because if nothing else, it is entertaining. & in the end, we somehow made it so it seems like it all worked out after all.
