The fortnight of freedom makes its triumphant return

If you are a tv aficionado like I am, you are well aware that tonight marks the first night of the annual fortnight of freedom and personally I could not be more thrilled. Last year, it was rendered largely ineffectual by the delinquent channels and streaming services choosing to air new episodes during this time period but now it’s back in full force. I’m not sure why they’ve decided to bring it back but I for one am sure as hell not complaining.

For those unfamiliar with this concept, allow me to enlighten you. The fortnight of freedom is the two weeks at the end of the year (typically December 17 - January 1, although it does vary year to year) when very few (if any) tv series put out new episodes. As an avid tv watcher, it’s always been one of my favorite times of year (ironically enough) because, as much as I love my shows, it’s nice to have a little free time every now and then to do whatever I want. Plus, it helps to break up the monotony of my typical tv watching schedule.

So to those of you out there who are religious tv watchers like me, I encourage you to take full advantage of this period of time. Go out for a walk, get started on that project you’ve been putting on the back burner for several years now, read a book or just do whatever your heart is content with. Regardless of how you celebrate, it’s important to remember that our days are numbered in more ways than one so I suggest you take your life and live it to the fullest. Have a great FOF and I’ll see you all when you get back.

If you have big plans for your FOF or just want to say hi, sound off in the comments below and we can keep the conversation going as long as you like. Until then, this is the x factor signing off.
