Seinfeld Declassified Episode 68: Why did uncle leo have a ringing in the ears?
Hello, Newman. Our last episode concerns jerry as he tries to stop uncle leo from turning into a criminal but why does he keep complaining about having a ringing in his ears? What could possibly be causing that type of affliction? Well, we consulted with the foremost authorities & this is what we were able to uncover.
So we did some digging & found the illness that appears to align with the symptoms. It’s called meniere’s disease. It’s an inner ear disease that can cause dizzy spells, vertigo & even hearing loss. Most of the time, it only affects one ear but it can later spread to the other ear if left untreated (which certainly seems to be the case here). There is no known cure but the symptoms can be managed by constant vigilant treatment. This includes decreasing the amount of sodium in your diet, avoiding caffiene & cutting out tobacco & chocolate.
Interestingly enough, the plot is actually inspired by one of the writers, spike feresten, who happened to catch some tv news report about rampant shoplifting being perpetrated by the elderly. But as far as the ringing in the ears, I’m not sure what the point of that subplot was considering it ultimately went nowhere. But in any case, that’s case closed on that mystery. So, listen, thank you so much for reading, have a great week & we’ll see you back here next weekend for a new episode of something. Until then, this is the x factor signing off.
