Seinfeld Declassified Episode 66: Is it actually possible to turn your shower drain into a garbage disposal?
Hello, newman. I don’t know how this keeps happening but apparently there were two other episodes I had in my drafts that I never got around to actually writing. Ok, so today’s episode follows the continuing shenanigans of the k man as he attempts to turn his shower drain into a garbage disposal but is it actually possible to pull off such a feat in real life? Well, we consulted with the foremost authority on the subject & here’s what we were able to ascertain.
So technically it is possible but it does violate plumbing codes regarding the size of shower drains. It’s also not particularly practical or even that easy to install. Don’t forget most shower drains measure about 2 inches while your standard garbage disposal is closer to 3.5. That’s why you typically find them under kitchen sinks where there’s plenty of room for them. So you would need about 18 inches under the shower to make room for it.
They also need electrical connections as well as special mounts to hold them in place which are not common in shower drains. & even if you had all that, it would still probably cost you upwards of ten thousand dollars in total & take about three months to fully install. Not to mention the fact that he’s in an apartment so whatever he did to install it no doubt wreaked havoc on the plumbing in the rest of the building. All this is to say while it is doable, it’s not particularly practical or even worth the cost it would take to do it. Not to mention the novelty of it would probably wear off after just a few months.
But theoretically, if you had the resources & funds, you could install a garbage disposal in your shower. However, it is not in the least bit advisable. Much like the majority of stuff you see on tv, you should probably not try this at home unless you’re just one big glutton for punishment. Tangentially, spader was invited to fill the role of stanky hanke because apparently he & jerry were good friends prior to this & he & jason had previously worked together on some film called white palace. So, listen, have a great week, thank you guys so much for reading & I’ll see you back here next weekend for one last episode of seinfeld declassified. Until then, this is the x factor signing off .
