Hellow, Newman. One of the most iconic catchphrases the series ever spawned is known as yada yada yada but where did this originate from & how has it become so popular over the years? Well, we sent our researchers out on assignment & this is what they uncovered.

The phrase was first made popular by a comedian known as Lenny Bruce back in 1961 when he was doing a standup bit known as father flotsky’s triumph. It is unknown where he came up with the phrase but it is believed to be derived from the song yakety yak first popularized by the coasters back in 1959 & from there it just snowballed. More likely is the theory that it was adapted from the term blah blah blah which was first popularized by the british back in the early 1900’s. But it seems the precise origin has since been lost to history.

In any case, it obviously has made a permanent home in the cultural zeitgeist & we certainly hope this is one slang word that never goes out of style. So thank you guys so much for reading. Have a great week & I will see you back here next weekend for a brand new episode of seinfeld declassified. Until then, this is the x factor signing off.
