Seinfeld Declassified Episode 47: What is the origin of Susie?
Hellow, Newman. We didn’t have much to declassify with the van buren boys so we kind of skipped over that but just in case you were wondering, no, it is not a real street gang. But getting back on track, today’s episode follows Elaine as she conspires to “murder” her alter ego in an effort to do some damage control at the office. But just how did she get that crazy notion in her head that her name was Suzie? Well, we have a few possible explanations for this case of mistaken identity.
One of the more prominent theories is the fact that she may have resembled a former coworker by that name which is why she got confused. This would also explain why peterman has memories of doing it with said colleague. But another theory suggests she may have been suffering from some form of dementia which is why she couldn’t get the name right. But that wouldn’t explain why peterman seems to remember this nonexistent dead former employee of his unless he was merely misremembering. More than likely, though, it was the former.
In any case, the story was actually inspired by one of his writers who worked at snl. According to reports, he had a coworker who called him the wrong name & he failed to correct that person. But the weird part is, as far as he knew, there was no one working on snl who went by that name so to this day, he still has no idea what was going on with that. But that’s about all I have for you guys today so thank you so much for reading. Have a great weekend & I will see you back here next week for a brand new episode of Seinfeld Declassified. Until then, this is the x factor signing off.
