Seinfeld Declassified Episode 41: Can abstinence really increase intelligence?
Hello, Newman. So let’s jump right in here, shall we? The season continues with the abstinence which sees George get smarter due to imposed celibacy while Elaine. But is there actually any scientific evidence to support this theory? Well, here’s what our researchers were able to uncover about the effects of celibacy on a person’s intelligence.
So the short answer is no. Obviously, you’re not going to get smarter just because you refrain from doing the horizontal tango. In fact, Einstein was known for getting it on frequently throughout his life. However, there is scientific evidence to suggest that while it may not directly increase your mental stamina, it can result in increased focus whether at work, in school or just whenever you need to concentrate on an important task. Without that distraction, you are more likely to complete your work & studies have even found girls who abstain are more likely to graduate high school.
So while it is highly plausible that it may have helped him focus just long enough to remember where his lost retainer is, there’s no way it would have turned him into mensa material. Obviously, tv series have been known to exaggerate for comedic effect & no one did this better than Seinfeld. But in any case, you can’t deny it made for a great episode. So that’s about all I had for you today but thank you so much for reading. Have a great week & I will see you back here next weekend for a brand new episode of Seinfeld declassified. Until then, this is the x factor signing off.
