Hey, guys. Hope you’re as pumped for this new episode as I am. So let’s delve right in, shall we? Season 7, episode 18 follows the k man as he tries to implement his method of “da vinci sleep” in an effort to take back more of his waking life but did the master actually do this & is there any scientific evidence to support this type of sleep cycle? Well, that’s what we’ll be delving into on today’s episode of SD.

So first off, is it true? Well, yes, according to reports, he really did engage in a form of polyphasic sleep commonly known as the Uberman sleep cycle, two hours of sleep a night followed by 20-minutes naps every 4 hours. But now the question remains, why exactly did he think this was a good idea? Well, here’s what the experts have to say.

Much like the k man, historians believe he did this in an effort to accomplish more in his lifetime than he otherwise would have been able to. But does it actually work? Well, yes and no. You see, the thing to keep in mind is he was believed to have a mutation in the gene DEC2 which allowed him to still be productive while getting less sleep than the average human. So for him, this was an arrangement that worked out well.

But as scientists are quick to point out, for the average person without that mutation, this will cause irreparable damage to your body and mind so it is not recommended that anyone else try to engage in this type of reckless behavior. Because much like the k man, you may very well find yourself at the bottom of the Hudson river in a sack (well, probably not but it’s still a bad idea regardless).

So that’s about all I have for you guys today but thank you so much for reading. Have a great lazy Sunday (or active if that’s more your speed) & I will see you back here soon for a brand new episode of SD. Until then, this is the x factor signing off.
