Seinfeld Declassified Episode 28: Is there any truth to the rye story?

Truth be told, there’s actually not much to declassify here but I could not a classic episode such as this pass me by without delving headfirst into it. So believe it or not, there is a bit of basis for this in real life. One of the writers, Carol Leifer, got the idea when she was apparently having dinner with a high school friend & he/she forgot to serve it (it doesn’t specify whether it was a male or female). But stealing the rye from the old lady was all Larry’s idea (because of course it was). It’s not clear if he’s ever done that in real life but I honestly would not be shocked.

Interestingly enough, they originally wanted to use chef boyardee’s beefaroni during the scene when the k man was feeding the horse human food but evidently they didn’t want their product being associated with flatulence so they had to change the name to the fictional beef-a-reeno we all know & love. Finally, legend has it Jerry started a massive snowball fight on set using the fake snow they made for this episode. So it seems a good time was had by all the cast & crew.

So that’s about all I have for you guys today but thank you so much for reading & subscribing. Have a great weekend & I will see you back here soon for a brand new episode of seinfeld declassified. Until then, this is the x factor signing off.
