Seinfeld Declassified Episode 13: why did he take it out?

As any Seinfeld fan knows, pretty much every episode of season 5 (& the entire series, for that matter) is a classic & this one is no exception. So the story kicks off with Jerry setting up Elaine with some friend of his, Phil Titola, who, as we all know, ends up taking it out. But it’s never explained why he does this or even if it’s intentional. So today, we’ll be explaining the origins of the takeout and the ramifications of it in the long run.

So unfortunately, they don’t give us much to go on. What we do know, however, is when Jerry confronts about him later on, he seems to have no idea what he’s talking about. So theoretically it’s impossible he may not have taken it out so much as it just slipped out. I mean it’s rare but it does happen every now & then, especially if you’re wearing loose-fitting clothing.

So maybe it slipped & she just jumped to the conclusion that he did it on purpose. That would actually explain a lot: the fact that it just goes over his head later on, the reason he doesn’t believe he did anything wrong. Although why he didn’t notice it later on is beyond me.
