Seinfeld Declassified Episode 1: Does George’s theory hold up?
Dissecting TV series is one of America’s favorite pastimes and no series has engrained itself into American culture quite like Seinfeld. So this new series will be exploring the multiple facets of the long-running and immensely popular series and discussing just how realistic and truthful (or lack thereof) it really is. This first episode will be covering season 5 episode 17.
In case you need a refresher, George (after being caught red handed peeing in the shower) asserts that it’s perfectly fine to do so because “it’s all pipes. what’s the difference?” but is his theory correct? Well, according to a professional engineer, not only is it fine but it may actually be healthier than relieving yourself in the toilet. According to him, your drain pipe for the shower and toilet are tied together before they even leave your house (and, in all likelihood, even before leaving the bathroom) and thus end up in the exact same place.
Additionally, peeing in the shower can save an estimated amount of water that could fill up to 26 olympic-sized swimming pools. It’s even more sanitary too. When you pee in the toilet, there is no doubt at least a handful of drops of pee splashing back on you but, with the shower, it all gets sucked down the drain and you’re left feeling nice and clean as you begin drying off with your towel.
Of course, when George made this claim, he did so without knowing any of the facts but it doesn’t change the fact that he was technically right. So next time you’re in the shower and hear nature calling you, don’t be afraid to pick up the phone. Your bladder will thank you for it later.
