No, people, HTD is not a stalker song

I’ve seen this for years in youtube comments sections. People will constantly claim to be perturbed by the lead singer of the Plain White T’s openly admitting to stalking some girl (who may or may not go by the name of Delilah) but it’s simply hogwash and the allegation that it’s a stalker song can easily be disproven in the very first verse of the song.

If you even bothered to listen to the song before just assuming the vocalist behind it was a stalker, you would clearly hear the following lyrics, “I’m a thousand miles away” and it’s not just there. He even later sings, “A thousand miles seems pretty far.” So, no, this dude, whoever he may be, is not peering through her window with binoculars just waiting for her to emerge from the shower. Bottom line, this is not a song about about a guy creeping around on a girl he has a thing for.

It’s clearly a song about a guy pining about a girl he can’t be with at the moment (at least not physically) and anxiously awaiting their next reunion. Quite frankly, I have no idea how this whole stalking rumor got started but it needs to stop now.
