Culinary Culture Episode 2: Waffle we do next?
First off, I want to apologize for that pun. I know it’s abysmal but it’s the best I could think of. So our next episode takes us to the big c, a fantastic chicken & waffle walk-up just outside of cary. The place is nestled into the heart of rtp just behind a papa john’s and across from cookout and, though it may be small, it is not to be underestimated. So let me walk you through the experience.
I arrived around early afternoon and had to walk around the entire building before finally finding the walk-up window. I placed my order and it was ready within…well, I wasn’t timing it but it couldn’t have been more than ten minutes. One of the things that makes them unique is their waffle flavor variety and what drew me in was the thin mint waffle, a glorious amalgamation of a waffle and the classic girl scout cookie.
So I got that alongside a four piece set of wings and it most certainly did not disappoint. The waffle itself was certainly a unique experience and it’s a must-have for anyone who enjoys that type of cookie as well as waffles in general. However, I think where they shine the most is in their chicken which is baked to perfection and seasoned with the most delectable seasonings you can imagine.
It is also an African-American-owned company which I think makes it all the more important to support. My only complaints are very minute: they were playing music at a high decibel which did it make it a bit difficult to order. They also do provide syrup but not a knife so it was kind of irksome trying to eat a waffle solely with a fork. But as far as the food itself goes, this is definitely the place to be for chicken and waffle lovers far and wide. So if you enjoy this type of food, it should definitely be on your radar.
